Sustainable practices are part of AGGRARIA's values and identity. These values are present across all activities and areas of AGGRARIA, such as:
In the field
Efficient use of water resources - moisture probes are used to ensure we use only the irrigation water necessary for the healthy development of our crops, avoiding water waste. All our olive orchards are irrigated by localized/drip irrigation, which is one of the most efficient systems in the use of irrigation water
Soil preservation - another extremely valuable resource is Soil. At AGGRARIA we seek to keep the soil protected through natural pasture between the rows of our plantations, which prevents soil erosion, improves its structure and increases its organic matter content. We also incorporate pruning residues into the soil in order to increase organic matter in the soil.
Collaboration in sustainable projects - AGGRARIA constantly seeks to optimize resources and thus collaborates with multinationals, such as Alltech's CIMA Project, which aims to reduce the carbon footprint and reduce the use of fertilizers.

At the mill
Use of sub-products – we promote the use of sub-products from the mill, such as olive pits for energy production. These measures seek to enhance circular economy practices.
Olive oil certification – AGGRARIA is part of the Alentejo Olive Oil Sustainability Program. This program is promoted by Olive Oil Producers in collaboration with Portuguese universities and seeks to develop a benchmark of sustainable practices and certification for Alentejo olive oil.
